Research

The overall goal of our laboratory is to understand the molecular basis of protein function using a multidisciplinary approach that focuses on high resolution X-ray crystallography but includes complementary computational modeling, molecular biology, and biochemical methods. We are studying several different systems with a focus on understanding molecular mechanisms of activation, biochemical function, or disease processes and responses. The systems in which we’re interested include the innate immune response, neurodegenerative disorders, biotin-dependent metabolic enzymes, and blood coagulation.
